Los Alamos Coop Market has been accepted as a member of NCGA, the National Cooperative Grocers Association.  This is a big deal: in addition to consulting services that will help us get on our feet, NCGA offers product discounts.  That lets our co-op offer better service and lower prices!

500th Member Household

2010-08-31 8:00am

Meet the 500th household to join the Co-op!

Dawn and James Cline have been living in Los Alamos for almost 15 years. They are excited to be a part of the Los Alamos Co-op. They value the fact that the Co-op is locally owned and operated by the community for the community. For them, joining the Co-op is about having choices on where to shop for produce and other groceries.

First Work Party

2010-08-28 2:00pm

Over twenty Los Alamos cooperators showed showed up today to paint and haul planks of siding which will be used on the ceiling of the building.  The mood was joyful, and work progressed quickly.  While the paint dried, members feasted on a cornucopia of barbecued veggies and natural meats grilled up by builder Taylor Cardon of SG Western Construction.

There will be another work party on Saturday, September 11.  Stay tuned for details.

In his work with La Montanita, Steve was the project manager for two new cooperative store acquisitions. His experience in and dedication to natural food cooperatives qualify him for the challenges ahead. Steve will begin working in early October. Please join us in welcoming him to our co-op community!

The 300-foot Canyon Rim Trail bridge was installed as part of the efforts to complete the mult-purpose trail joining the downtown to the Los Alamos Cooperative Market, the Entrada Business Park and the Airport Basin area. The 7,600-foot paved pathway is expected to be finished in August with a grand opening of the bridge planned for July 24th.  Thanks to the overwhelming response from our Co-op members, County councilors voted in January to approve the expenditure for the bridge and proceed with the construction of this path to the Co-op.

Groundbreaking

LACM members turn out for a groundbreaking celebration

Excitement -- and dirt -- were in the air as Los Alamos Co-op Market members celebrated the groundbreaking for the store June 4th. Co-op members and County Councilors Bowman, Gibson and Stover threw shovels of fresh dirt to mark this milestone. The festivities were part of the Gordon's Concert held that evening and sponsored in part by Rick Reiss and Sam Gardner, our Co-op builders and developers of the Entrada Business Park. Hundreds of community and Co-op members joined together for an evening of dancing, excitement and celebration.  The Co-op member potluck and gathering generated interest from the rest of the community attending and gained us some new members!  Thanks to all who showed up to join in the festivities!
